In fine weather the restaurant moves outdoors. On the terrace by the old factory, guests enjoy lunch, drinks or dinner in the open air. Inside, it is the same kitchen and the same menu.
The terrace lies right beside the factory building. You look out onto the façade of a former textile factory that was restored after years of standing empty. Since 2026 a spacious conservatory at the rear lets the restaurant and terrace flow into the garden. If you would like to know the history of the building, read the story of the Kastanjefabriek. If the weather turns, you sit indoors within the same historic walls.
Between 12:00 and 16:00 you can have lunch outside from the regular lunch menu. A smoked salmon sandwich with horseradish and apple, crispy chicken on brioche, a salad with fried halloumi and fig, or simply a bowl of the soup of the season. The bar is open daily from 11:00 to 04:00, and the bites menu is made to go with a glass of wine, a craft beer or a cocktail. Oysters by the pair, natural or with vinaigrette. Bread with aioli, tapenade and herb butter. A cheese board or charcuterie board, or the mixed board with cheese, cured meats, olives and fried snacks. Warm options include bitterballen with mustard, cheese sticks with chilli dip and calamares fritos with garlic dip. For a more festive moment: pan-fried duck liver with apple and brioche. Dishes marked with a star on the bites menu can be ordered until 22:00.
We are on the edge of Eibergen, about a five-minute walk from the centre. Some 700 metres away stands the Mallumse Molen, a watermill on the Berkel. From Eibergen, the Berkelzomp sails along the river in that direction. So a stroll along the Berkel followed by a drink on the terrace goes together beautifully. Parking is free on our own grounds.
